Black Bull Company Saloon

Judith Basin, home of Black Bull Company Saloon, undoubtedly fits the classic Montana description of 'high, wide, and handsome.' Island Mountain ranges such as the Highwoods, Belts, and Snowies surround beautiful prairies, rich farmland, and vast stretches of cattle ranching country.

The Saloon is decorated with historic artifacts and striking black and white photographs of local cowboys, horses, and scenery by artist K. Loose. Our variety of hunting trophies and unique wildlife mounts help make the saloon a Montana treasure for outdoorsmen.

The building housing the legendary Black Bull Company Saloon is an important historic landmark in Hobson, built in 1911 by Mr. Murray, and housed The First National Bank of Hobson. Locally formed cement blocks makeup the structure of the building. Throughout the years, the Murray Building accommodated office suites, boarding rooms, a stage for live theater, a pool hall, a bowling alley, and a butcher shop. During the past 40 years, however, the building has been a bar and restaurant. A group of local ranchers, recognizing the historic value of the building and the importance to the community, made the decision to purchase the Murray Building as the site for Black Bull Company Saloon. The restaurant is closed at this time.
